Screening
Our language assessment tool helps to
determine whether the candidate has enough
language fluency in English and one target
language. This would then qualify them
to attend professional interpreter training
and become a trained medical interpreter.
Linguistic abilities, knowledge of medical
terminology, oral and written skills in
English and the target language are assessed.
This assessment includes an oral and an
optional written component in both languages.
Competencies assessed
in Language Screening:
- Ability to carry a conversation comfortably
in English and in target language
- Ability to interpret specific terms
from in English <=> Target Language
- Evaluation of knowledge and understanding
of medical terms and patient-centered
medical language
- Specialized topics, when the assessment
is specialized
